Made in America

The Joseph Abboud Manufacturing Corporation (JAMCo) in New Bedford, MA, is the largest tailored clothing factory in the United States and is also the exclusive producer of Joseph Abboud suits, sports jackets and dress trousers.

All items produced within the factory are American-made with the highest quality materials and craftsmanship. The factory produces suits, suit separates, pants and sport coats, including custom suits.

The factory employs 600 skilled workers, and 90% of them are New Bedford residents. Affirming its place as a pillar within the community, the JAMCo factory is also a historic site. In 1987, GFT USA, a subsidiary of Gruppo Finanzario Tessile, the largest menswear maker in the world from Turin, Italy, had purchased the factory to manufacture its various menswear collections for the American market.

With the acquisition, they transformed the factory with the latest sewing and pressing technology, adopted a sophisticated manufacturing system and re-trained every employee. After doing so, the factory became the premier facility for manufacturing the highest quality level products in the GFT stable of fashion designers, which would grow to include Joseph Abboud.

In 1995, GFT USA purchased additional factory buildings to secure New Bedford as the permanent production home for the Joseph Abboud line of tailored clothing. In 2004, the factory officially changed its name to the Joseph Abboud Manufacturing Corporation and is now under the ownership of Tailored Brands.

“There’s a pride that comes with wearing a bespoke, custom suit that is made in America and an even deeper pride from knowing it’s made in the heart of New England. Every aspect of our factory’s production process reflects the detailed care and quality our artisans uphold to ensure each tailored garment exceeds our customers’ expectations.”
