In 1854, Alexandra was established in Bristol as a linen drapery and rapidly grew into a thriving department store. Throughout the twentieth century, the business developed a market-leading range of stock-backed workwear and uniforms, heavily marketed through catalogs and retail shops, and eventually became a PLC. By the end of the 1990s, Alexandra had become the largest single provider of workwear, corporate uniforms and nursing wear in the UK. In 2010, Alexandra was acquired by The Men’s Wearhouse, Inc.
